چکیده

introduction: infective endocarditis (ie) causes serious complications in patients. congenital heart disease (chd) is an important underlying condition in children. case presentation: a 6-year-old girl with ventricular septal defect (vsd) was presented. echocardiography revealed large vegetation in right ventricular outflow tract near the pulmonary valve. the patient showed clinical symptoms of lung involvement and radiologic investigation was compatible with diagnosis of septic pulmonary emboli. she had good response to antibacterial therapy and underwent a successful surgical closure of heart defect. discussion: this case confirms the concept that the turbulent flow of congenital left–to-right shunts causes endocarditis at its point of impact i.e. the right chambers of heart, and infection at that point can readily transfer to lungs

Lead-dependent infective endocarditis complicated by septic emboli.

Lead-dependent infective endocarditis (LDIE) has emerged as a serious complication of electrotherapy in the era of advanced medical technology and is a growing problem due to greater patient longevity, limited electrode life-time, an increasing number of abandoned leads, and subclinical symptoms. We present a case of dramatic course of LDIE in a 26 year-old patient in whom standard management h...
